St Kateri Mission

With gracious funding from Black and Indian Mission, Saint Kateri has been able to support its growing ministries, especially its youth ministry. Consequently, our number of volunteers has increased as well. The youth leaders are collaborating with the Pascua Yaqui Tribe in areas such as leadership, public speaking, community service and positive self-image. Meeting three times weekly, the youth leaders encourage faith-based sharing, daily prayer and scripture at every meeting.

The growth of the youth cenacle and the family catechesis programs have been a great success for our parish and our parish community. The increase of attendance at Sunday masses is remarkable, and because of family attendance, more adults and youth are participating as liturgical ministers and volunteers as needed.

The youth and youth leaders are working together with community leaders, building a great intergenerational experience for both our youth and our elders.

As an example, Saint Kateri Parish was recently able to replace the 15-year old worn and aging chairs in the mission church, the pulpit and sanctuary (see photos).

Together with the pastor, Father Seraphim, receiving, unloading and assembling the chairs brought the small community together. Numerous parishioners and volunteers showed joyful appreciation for these much-needed chairs as they came together for the sake of their parish.
