Holy Cross and St Katherine Drexel

March 06, 2020

Holy Cross Church

Our religious education program at Holy Cross Church is moving right along. We recently helped our parish celebrate Black History Month with a wonderful gathering after our 10:30am Sunday Mass. Our gathering included a delicious pot luck luncheon. As always, our Holy Mass included the singing of our gospel choir with parishioners joining in song.

Our religious education program continues as we prepare or young students for their sacraments. We use classroom texts with videos, and active participation with biblical word games, bible bingo and participation in Holy Cross parish events. We also try to learn by doing, and are currently trying to learn a new song in sign language.

Our Lenten spiritual preparation also continues. We plan to participate in Stations of the Cross and grow in faith with personal Lenten preparation.

March 3rd is a very important date for Holy Cross Parish. The Feast day of St. Katharine Drexel is a reminder of the significant role she played in the formation of our parish. We read the story of St. Katharine Drexel’s visit to Corpus Christi many years ago. Each time we hear this story, it serves as inspiration for us as we are reminded of her generosity and philanthropy. We hope to learn and grow in faith as we study the lives of saints and study scripture, and Holy Mass.
