Mass of Remembrance Held in Milwaukee

December 02, 2019

Black Catholic Ministry Commission, African Catholic Committee

On Sunday November 10, 2019, the African Catholic Committee of our Black Catholic Ministry Commission in the Archdiocese of Milwaukee hosted its 3rd Annual Mass of Remembrance at All Saints Catholic Church in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The Mass is celebrated yearly as a remembrance of our departed family members.

About 100 Africans, African American, European, and Asian Pacific Islanders attended, as we remembered our ancestors both in body and in faith. Participants were invited to bring an image of their loved one for an ancestral display in the Parish Hall. Each family received a commemorative candle to remember their loved one throughout the coming year while the candles last.

This year the Swahili community choir sang mostly ins Swahili led by Salivatory Ciza and Jane Hughes. Father Arthur was the main celebrant assisted by Fr. Patrick kKmani. Father Otaga was present and helped with Holy Communion. The Liturgy was followed by a meal and fellowship.
