Sacred Heart Catholic School, Gallup
Sacred Heart Catholic School, Gallup is three months into the 2025-2026 school year, and we have had so many blessings and festivities. We started our after school clubs and classes which consist of Sew 'n Sews, Lego Club, Bike Club, Beginners Latin & Latin I Classes, and Spanish Class. Our students really enjoy having the opportunity to learn and try new hobbies. A few of the students in bike club competed in a bike race that took place at McGaffey National Forest, and they really enjoyed the experience and challenge.
Once a month, our middle schoolers 6th-8th grade have a middle school mixer in which they get to enjoy some fun after school activities with friends and peers their age with the rule that no cell phones are allowed. They are able to invite two friends from other local schools to introduce to their Sacred Heart friends. For the month of September, they went to a local recreation center and played volleyball. Even our Sisters joined! This really shows our middle school students that they can have fun with friends outside of school where no technology or distractions are present.
The students and staff celebrated All Saints Day on October 31st with a mass procession followed by a day full of treats and fun! Each student chose their favorite Saint to be for the day, and learned about their saint leading up to All Saints Day.
We had our Annual Fall Festival on November 2, 2025. This is one of our big fundraisers that is held at the school in which students and staff get to enjoy games, face painting, Christmas decoration sales, a turkey dinner, and performances by local youth. One of the performances was put on by our very own Sacred Heart students representing their Navajo Culture. The Gallup community came out and supported our school while the students and staff got to enjoy lots of fun and sunshine!
So far, the days have been full of memories, learning, and fun, and we still have so many more days ahead of us full of blessings and gratitude.
