Showcasing ExCEL

April 30, 2026

Sisters Academy of Baltimore

Sisters Academy of Baltimore operates on a trimester system and culminates each day with its extended-day programming, known internally as ExCEL (Exploring, Creating, and Expanding Learning). The ExCEL program offers diverse and enriching opportunities designed to extend learning beyond the traditional classroom. Classes are led by qualified educators who may consult with classroom teachers to address individual learning needs. Designed to foster academic confidence and reinforce classroom learning, topics are selected form three core areas: STEM, Competitive Play, and the Arts. The offerings may change from one trimester to the next, but some of the more popular courses are: Art, Chess, Choir, Coding, Crochet, Guitar, Personal Finance, Public Speaking/Debating, Team Sports, and Theatre.

Twice a year, students demonstrate their interest areas for their families. Winterfest and Springfest provide opportunities to showcase skills learned in the Arts thread of courses. The audience takes in visual art displays, musical performances, craft exhibits, cooking samples, and theatrical performances. Most recently, the Drama Club performed The Wiz in an offsite theatre setting for their parents. The entire school and all families enjoyed a staged portion at Winterfest.
