For more than a decade, residents of Walthill and surrounding areas on the Omaha Reservation have relied on the Walthill Food Pantry—operated by the Walthill Ministerial Association—for essential grocery assistance, building community amidst persistent food insecurity.
Located in the basement of St. Joseph’s Church rectory on the corner of Main Street and North Taft, the pantry opens its doors to all Thurston County residents on the fourth Tuesday and Thursday of each month. It offers a wide assortment of non perishables—cereals, canned meats and soups, pasta, rice—as well as frozen meats, dry milk, and personal-care items like toothpaste, shampoo, and feminine hygiene products.
Operated by a team of dedicated volunteers, the pantry strives not only to deliver food but also to uplift community dignity, offering help with respect and warmth.
Thurston County faces high rates of child food insecurity and limited economic resources. The pantry helps relieve some of the pressure by ensuring children and families have steady access to culturally appropriate nourishment.
