Catholic Schools Week 2020

February 17, 2020

Immaculate Conception School

The last week of January 2020 was a fun and faith filled week for the students of Immaculate Conception Parish School. For the first time, we divided all students, faculty and staff into Prayer Families. There are 6 saints represented at the parish church, and now there are 6 different prayer families, one to represent each saint. We had a "sorting" ceremony early in the week then broke into our prayer families for lunch, making crafts for local shut-ins, and for our weekly school Mass. Each family is also represented by a different color. For example, the St. Patrick family's color is green.

We were also blessed with a visit from our favorite Rural Ministry Sisters! Sister Marian, a member of the Erie Benedictine Sisters and Sister Tina, of the Sisters of Mercy of the Americas. The older students were enthralled with the history of each order and the younger ones enjoyed a story of the love of Jesus and a beautiful coloring page.
To top off the week, we had our yearly spelling bee, a prayer service (prior to our sorting), and a visit to the planetarium at Clarion University! Catholic Schools Week is always a highlight in our school year and this year seemed extra special!
