Office of Cultural Diversity

Revive Refresh Renew In the midst of what our church in the world is going through and everything we are going through in our own Diocese lately, I believe that we can all say today more than ever we need a Revival. God is ready to do something in this moment of uncertainty for many Christians. This is a moment for spiritual reconstruction. It is a time of much prayer and to be reminded that the Lord knows what to do with all that is happening and that the Lord is taking care of us and will continue to take care of us. Let’s keep our faith alive.

The African American Commission is working together with the Office of Cultural Diversity sponsored a three day Revival, October 14, 15 and 16, 2019 at Saint Martin de Porres Parish beginning each night at 6:00 P.M. The Choir from St. Martin de Porres sang praises to God in song on Monday and Wednesday night and Tuesday Ss. Columba Brigid Choir leaded the music on Youth Night.

Our guest revivalist was from Archdiocese of Atlanta, Rev. Roy A. Lee, PH.D. Reverend Lee was ordained for the Archdiocese of Milwaukee. Fr. Lee has had a very electric, challenging, and distinguished pastoral ministry as lecturer, educator, counselor, revivalist, retreat master, homilist, and chaplain in the U.S. Air Force. Father Lee is coming as an electrifying revivalist to give us some insight as well as hope about this moment of time in which God is ready to do some great work. He said, “Remember, some of God's best work has been done in the midnight hour. That midnight hour brings us to the resurrection. We call it Easter Sunday morning.” Each night he touched on the three topics of the theme. The first night Fr. Lee preached on the theme of Revive using the Gospel, Luke 11:29-32, “This generation is an evil generation; it seeks a sign, but no sign will be given, except the sign of Jonah.” The second night he preached on Refresh using the Gospel, Luke 11:37-41 “…Did not the maker of the outside also make the inside? But as to what is within, give alms, and behold, everything will be clean for you.” The last night was on Renew using the Gospel Luke 11:42-46, “…Woe to you Pharisees! You pay tithes of mint and of rue and of every garden herb, but you pay no attention to judgment and to love for God…” They were three awesome and spiritual nights of praise and glory to God.

Those present really were touched and challenged by the words of Fr. Roy.
