Catholic Schools of Fairbanks
One of the best days of the school year for our Monroe students is RAMS Day. The day before Thanksgiving is spent on Random Acts of Mercy and Service both in the school and throughout the community. Students participate in mixed grade-level teams and volunteer at various agencies in town, including packing food boxes at the Food Bank, the Literacy Council, Denali Center, the ICC Soup Kitchen. When reflecting on their years at the school, RAMS Day is frequently a highlight and critical formative experience.
Students also “compete” in a canned food drive, collecting canned goods for the Food Bank. Each grade level vies for bragging rights for who can bring in the most weight, but everyone wins with such a great event, especially when we bring in 1,297 pounds!
