July 2023 – June 2024 Activities
Sacred Heart of Jesus church located in Lake Charles, Louisiana is grateful for all monies received from grants and/or donations. The followings is a short summary of the events conducted with the use of the funds:
Trunk or Treat (October 28, 2023) – Children from the community was treated with candy and treats. This is an annual event conducted near Halloween. Costume contest and Trunk (car decoration) contest winner’s receive an award.
Pan Hellenic Day (October 29, 2023) - is a celebration of African American national Greek fraternities and sororities. These organizations have been instrumental in improving African American communities and fostering causes that affects all American society as well. Although an annual event, the location rotates. Bishop Perry celebrated the mass. It coincided with the Father Augustus Tolton Gala (an event to help finance his cause for sainthood)
Easter Egg hunt (March 30, 2024) – is an annual event. This is a community event and all participants receive treats and are fed a meal. The meal is available to all guest (parents and non participants) as well. Prizes are given to winners (person with the most eggs) in each division.
First Holy Eucharist (May 7, 2024) – takes place the first Sunday in May. Recipients receive gifts and are treated to a reception.
Graduation Mass (June 11, 2024) is conducted annually. Graduates from secondary and post secondary institutions are celebrated and receive gifts. A reception follows the mass.
Vacation Bible school (July 13, 2024) this was a one day event due to limited resources. Forty (40) children participated. All received a meal, certificate and a treat bag.
