August 2021 Update

April 15, 2022

De La Salle Blackfeet School

De La Salle Blackfeet School began our preparations for the 2021-22 school year in the summer months. We welcomed all of our staff back to our community with our orientation which was facilitated by the Leadership Team and carried out by Team members as well as other staff members. The orientation topics included raising awareness of and manifesting trauma-informed classrooms.

With the conclusion of the previous academic year in-person, many were hopeful of a return to normalcy for the present school year. Unfortunately, the impact of the pandemic continued to influence the operations of the school. We continue to employ the use of masks, practice social distancing, along with many other precautions to ensure the safety of our school community.

Because of our mask requirements we have continued with ten minute outdoor breaks between each class, giving students an opportunity to shed their masks safely and enjoy a mini-recess with games and activities.

In our commitment to ensuring a safe environment for our students, we have established a policy of switching to virtual learning in the event of a positive case of COVID-19. We have executed this policy twice with the support of our parents and the hard work of our staff members. While remote learning is never the ideal, the students have adapted and demonstrated their resilience, maintaining their high achievement. Through the work of the outstanding group of volunteers and staff, the school has transformed and adapted to a world impacted by COVID-19, making the school year remarkably successful.

Staff and students alike shared their enthusiasm for returning to school on August 19th. Our school welcomed new staff members into our school community: a new 6th grade homeroom teacher and school counselor. Our hope is that our adjusted schedule with mask breaks and the strategy to transition to virtual learning as necessary balances academic growth with social wellness. While remote learning is never ideal, through the work of the outstanding group of volunteers and staff, the school has transformed and adapted to a world continually impacted by COVID-19.
