Black Catholic Ministry
The last few months have been filled with outreach activity to evangelize for the growth of Ministry for Black Catholics in the Diocese of Wilmington. Highlights include:
November 2025
St. Martin De Porres Mass and Luncheon
St. Martin De Porres was the first African American Saint of the Americas and was known for Charity. This event was to learn about the life and legacy of this great champion of social justice.
Black History Month – Salesianum School 75th Anniversary of Segregation
Ministry for Black Catholics was invited to honor the Five Initial African American Students who began their schooling at the prestigious, all male, Catholic High School in Wilmington, DE., including a special presentation by the Gospel Choir. This was a large and well publicized event with the Diocese of Wilmington Ministry for Black Catholic well showcased.
December 2025
Advent Holy Hour of Power @ St. Ann’s
Reflection and meditation on the Eucharist – family and friends and diocesan parishioners were encouraged to attend.
Kwanza Celebration @ St. Joseph
The Kwanza program celebrated was developed by the National Black Catholic Congress.
Wreaths Across America with Veterans @Wilmington Senior Center
Ministry for Black Catholics worked together to represent their ministry while honoring veterans by placing wreaths on headstones.

Every 4th Sunday year round, the Ministry for Black Catholics Gospel Choir sings at St. Joseph Church.
