August 2024 Project Newsflash UPDATE

October 26, 2024

De La Salle Blackfeet School

De La Salle Blackfeet School kicked off the 2024-25 school year with a warm welcome to new and returning students. Registration nights and orientations set the stage, with families attending our annual Parent Night to connect with teachers, purchase uniforms, and learn about athletics and school programs. Students were well-prepared for the first day of classes on August 21st, and the year began with a blessing for a successful school year.

Weekly Mass at Little Flower Parish has brought the DLSBS community together, with each Thursday led by a different grade. Our 6th graders have already extended their learning beyond the classroom with a field trip to the Museum of the Plains Indians as part of their Social Studies curriculum.

Athletics have taken off with energy and enthusiasm as students participate in cross-country meets and girls' basketball practices, guided by dedicated coaches and supportive staff. Homecoming Week was a spirited success, featuring themed dress-up days and a parade that celebrated school pride and unity.

Student Council elections brought fresh voices to our school leadership, and these representatives are already fostering a strong sense of community. The 7th and 8th graders embraced service, assisting with food distribution at the Ō’yō’·ṗ’ Food Pantry, where they learned the value of supporting others within the Blackfeet community.

Our annual raffle campaign is also underway, offering monthly prize draws, with special drawings for Thanksgiving, Catholic Schools Week, and Founder’s Day. Ticket sales are in full swing, with funds raised supporting vital school programs.

Additionally, the school welcomed their first group of OKI-NI-SOO-KA-WA (Come & See): De La Salle Blackfeet Immersion Program participants. These students embraced the week-long experience, volunteering in classrooms, connecting with students, and exploring Glacier National Park alongside DLSBS students. This school year we are excited to have twenty-eight groups who will join our school community for a week-long immersion experience.

A heartfelt thank you to all staff, families, and community members for making the beginning of this school year meaningful. Blessings to all Catholic Schools as we look forward to a prosperous year ahead, focused on learning, growth, and community.
