Diocese of Lafayette – Office of Black Catholic Ministries – November 18, 2023

The African American Catholic Youth Congress (AACYC) was held at St. Thomas More High School in Lafayette on Saturday, November 18, 2023. The theme of the Youth Congress was, “One Bread, One Body: Lord of All”.

221 youth and 24 Adult Volunteers were in attendance. This event sponsored by the Office of Black Catholic Ministries of the Diocese of Lafayette, provides a platform for African-American students to celebrate and acknowledge their culture and contributions to the Catholic Church. This one-day event includes workshops, praise & worship, speakers, and Mass.

Youth Congress Keynote Speaker, Mr. Dustin Bertrand, addressed the young people on the importance of the Eucharist.

At the African American Catholic Youth Congress held on November 18, 2023 a workshop on Blacks on the Road to Sainthood was presented by Christine Streams from the Diocese of Houma Thibodeaux.

 

St. Edward, New Iberia


Health Fair

St. Edward Catholic Church held a parish Health Fair on October 27, 2023 Parishioners and visitors were invited to visit the stations and pick up information pretending to different areas of our health. Blood pressure checks, flu shots, Medicare fraud information and other health information was provided. One of the fun stations for the young and the young at heart was the station with the exercise bike.
