St. Anthony Catholic Church Lafayette, Ladies Altar Society Retreat was held on Saturday, August 23, 2019. The speaker was Stephanie Bernard, Director of the Office of Black Catholic Ministries. The theme for the retreat was centered on the role of a woman in the Church from Proverbs 30:31 Scripture Passage, “Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting, but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.”
Holy Ghost Catholic Church, the largest black Catholic Church in the Diocese of Lafayette began its 100th Anniversary Kick Off Celebration in October. In their efforts to celebrate the history of the Church an event is scheduled for each month, whether it’s having volunteers cleaning the church, a pilgrimage to the Holy Land, and recognizing adults and children who have made contributions to the church.
Annual African American Catholic Youth Congress was held on Saturday, November 23, 2019. Three hundred youth were in attendance.
