To Our Wolfpack Family,
I hope and pray that you and your families are doing well despite these challenging and uncertain times. Throughout the course of the summer, Don Bosco Cristo Rey has spent a great deal of time preparing for the 2020/21 school year and so we would like to share with you some information on how we plan to begin our school year.
From the very beginning, our main priorities have been twofold: to ensure the safety and wellness of all our students, faculty and staff and to deliver high-quality instruction to our students even if in a virtual setting. Based on guidance from the Centers for Disease Control, the Archdiocese of Washington Catholic Schools Office, Prince George’s County, and Montgomery County, we have made the determination that we will begin the 2020/21 school year fully online with virtual instruction and telework options.
This past week, our students returned to campus, ever so briefly, to pick up laptops, textbooks, and class schedules to prepare for their first day of virtual school beginning on August 31. It was great to give air hugs, see our students in-person, and have a quick check in.
We have been in constant communication with our corporate partners these last few weeks and we have decided that our sophomores, juniors, and seniors will work from home, school, or their worksite. We have worked with our job teams and our students’ supervisors to take the necessary precautions and steps for our students to continue working. An important part of our school’s mission and vision is to prepare our young people for the workforce and we are happy to continue doing so with the support of our corporate partners.
Thank you for demonstrating such deep generosity and extraordinary commitment to our students and to our mission this past school year. Please be assured of our continued prayers for you and your family.
