Bishop Manogue Catholic High School
Bishop Manogue Catholic High School kicked off the 2024-2025 school year on August 12, welcoming students back to campus for another year of faith, fellowship, and academic excellence.
The school year began with a warm welcome for new students and families at the annual Welcome Party. This event provides an opportunity for families to connect and build community before classes start, setting the tone for a supportive and inclusive environment.
On August 23, Bishop Manogue hosted its highly anticipated annual fundraising gala, BASH (Building A Scholastic Heritage). This year’s event, held in the school gymnasium, drew 630 guests and raised more than $380,000 to support the school’s tuition assistance program. Attendees enjoyed a vibrant evening featuring a live auction, silent auction, and a live speed painter. The highlight of the night was the induction of five distinguished individuals into the Bishop Manogue Hall of Fame: Fr. Charles Durante, John and Yvonne Anxo, Chris Ault, and Brian Sandoval, all of whom were honored for their significant contributions to the school and community.
The school year took an unexpected turn in early September when the Davis Fire, a 5,600-acre wildfire, impacted the Reno area. Bishop Manogue canceled classes for three days to allow families and staff affected by the fire to manage evacuations and other urgent matters. Tragically, the Holy Spirit Mission in Washoe Valley was destroyed in the fire. In a true act of fellowship and service, Bishop Manogue is now hosting Holy Spirit Mission's Mass in its chapel. Additionally, students have rallied.
Despite the early challenges, Bishop Manogue is looking forward to a year filled with ministry, service projects, and continued growth. The school community remains resilient and committed to living out its mission, ensuring that the 2024-2025 school year will be one of faith, connection, and excellence.
