Bishop Manogue Catholic High School
The 82nd Nevada Legislative Session opened on February 4th, 2023. Nevada holds Sessions of the Legislature on a biennial basis, occurring during odd-numbered years, and is one of only four states with biennial sessions (along with Montana, North Dakota, and Texas).
Bishop Manogue has been actively participating in School Choice legislative efforts to help promote a family’s right to choose where they attend school, regardless of economic status.
This year, students traveled to the Nevada State Capitol Building to join the Nevada School Choice Coalition and thank legislators for their support for School Choice in Nevada. Diocese of reno Students handed out valentines to show appreciation and “Love” to allow all children the opportunity of public or private education in our state, no matter their economic status. Bishop Manogue was joined by diocesan partner schools from Our Lady of Snows and Little Flower Schools to show support. It was a bustling day meeting with legislators and outwardly showing support of school choice.
School Choice in Nevada remains an important issue. Bishop Manogue is a proud supporter of the Opportunity Scholarship to expand access to deserving students who wish to obtain a faith-based, college-prep education. Bishop Manogue Alumna and State Majority Leader Heidi Seevers Gansert has introduced a bill that will stabilize and expand Opportunity Scholarships, ensuring vulnerable students have the chance to meet their educational needs.
