St. Mary's and St. Anthony Catholic Churches
The Summer Months of 2023 were spent preparing for Summer Family Bible Camp, attending training, and attending a Kateri retreat. While Father Tran was on vacation, I was the main contact person for our parish. I was able to help coordinate wakes and funerals, as well as set up for Sunday Masses. Sister Margaret came for a visit, and we were able to have a Parish potluck after Mass.
July 13-15, 17-19th I attended Level 2 Part 1 Catechesis of the Good Shepherd training in Havre at St. Jude’s. The training was very good as it is for the 6–9-year-old child. It will be beneficial with our Faith Formation Program and utilized in both Box Elder St Anthony’s and Rocky Boy St Mary’s Atriums.
After CGS training, St Mary’s put on a Summer Family Bible Camp. Throughout the 3 evening sessions, we had 16 children, and 12 adults attend. A light dinner meal was provided each evening session. Our first day was July 25th so we discussed how it was Christmas in July. We started out with the Annunciation and the Visitation to introduce Jesus. This also allowed us to introduce the Rosary. During the 3 days if the bells were rung, we had to stop and pray a Hail Mary. By the end of the Bible Camp, we prayed the Joyous Mystery. We focused on Jesus the Good Shepherd as well as The Parables of the Good Samaritan and The Great Feast. We were able to use the Good Shepherd materials from the Atrium as well as other props to help the participants understand the materials. We had crafts and skits to also help the participants with the materials.
In August, Sister Kathleen and I attended a Kateri Ministry Sacred Wholeness retreat in Spokane, Washington. It was a good retreat. Topics included MMIW and Boarding School Trauma. It was good to meet other attendees from Montana, Idaho, Washington, and Oregon. I look forward to attending more Kateri Ministry Retreats.
During June, I also attended the Mass and reception for the Ordination of Matthew Solarz. In August I attended the Evening Prayer when Bishop Fleming was seated at his Cathedra by Bishop Emeritus Warfel. Both of these events were special in their own right.
Thank you for your continued support of St. Mary’s and St. Anthony’s Faith Formation programs. With your support I was able to attend trainings, retreats and host a Summer Family Bible Camp. It was a busy summer and am now preparing to begin Faith Formation and Sacrament Prep for the school year. I will also be working on adding to the CGS Atrium.
