St. Kateri Mission in the Diocese of Santa Rosa
Kateri Tekakwitha Mission continues to celebrate a weekly Mass and impromptu gatherings after Mass. There has been considerable progress on the maintenance of the buildings. Electrical work in the hall was done to reset the smoke alarms, as well as some redesign to allow easier access for the replacement of the batteries. We also fixed some loose connections in the church, which were causing the lights to flicker on and off. We fixed a pretty substantial leak in the waterline to the Church after a few weeks of carrying water from the Hall.
The Annual Dinner Auction took place on November 30th and an Advent Retreat is planned for Saturday December 15th. The theme of our retreat is Advent.
Father Pacheco is fundraising in the community for a new tabernacle and we will prepare the altar for that eventuality. This will involve moving the present counter from its current position to a spot below the Crucifix on the altar.
The numbers in attendance during October were down a little; but recently, we have been seeing more people at Mass again. We continue to hope that Father Arnenius, who expressed interest in serving the community, might still come to help us. Meanwhile we are grateful for the good priests: Fr. Francis Gayam, Fr.Michael Cloney, Fr. Andrew Pacheco and Fr. Gerard Brady who travel the hour drive to celebrate Mass at our Mission.
