Gospel Music Workshop

May 15, 2019
100+ gospel music-lovers attended the 2019 GMW

The 7th Annual Gospel Music Workshop was held in St. Francis of Assisi Church in Milwaukee on March 23, 2019. Lynné Gray of Washington, DC was once again the featured musician – so highly regarded from the 2018 workshop that she was roundly sought for a follow-up workshop appearance in 2019. The first female workshop director, Ms. Gray was acclaimed as yet the very best of all the workshop directors which includes quite a cast of notable “heavy-weights” in the field of Gospel music.

The workshop was attended by over 100 people from throughout the city of Milwaukee and surrounding neighborhoods and suburbs. For many, it is a highlight of Lent, coming at a particularly dreary time of year, and lifting people’s spirits with the gift of inspired song. Ms. Gray displayed approximately 15 pieces of music for attendees. More than simply music, she shared her faith that moves her in her music ministry. From comments received from participants, the Gospel Music Workshop serves for many as something of a music ministry retreat. Ms. Gray adeptly demonstrates how the music is secondary to the prayer that it needs to foster. She addresses a very important and sometimes delicate issue for choir members and directors.
