Ministry Formation Program

Permanent Deacon candidate Bill White was one of three men installed as acolytes for the Diocese of Rapid City on Feb. 1 at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Rapid City.

White, a Lakota Catholic, serves as pastoral administrator at Christ the King Parish in Porcupine, S.D., one of the parishes of the Holy Rosary Mission on the Pine Ridge Reservation. He is completing his final year of formation in anticipation of his ordination as a permanent deacon. His formation has been supported by grant funds from the Black and Indian Mission to the Office of Permanent Diaconate, which hopes to recruit and form more Lakota men to be deacon candidates.
