Church of the Resurrection
Church of the Resurrection students participated in an out of uniform day on Monday, October 21st to raise money for Breast Cancer Research. October is Breast Cancer Awareness month. Students were able to wear their favorite team jersey while making a difference in the world. Our students were proudly able to send a check in the amount of $133.00 for breast cancer research.
On Tuesday, October 29th Church of the Resurrection School students and staff invited parishioners, grandparents, parents, siblings, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends to participate in a Public Rosary. October is the month of the rosary and we publicly prayed the rosary together on campus along Michigan Avenue. We prayed together for Our Lady of Fatima to intercede for the safety of our city, state, nation, and the world. This was a beautiful example of the importance of coming together to pray for the sake of others needs and intentions.
On Friday, November 1st Church of the Resurrection School celebrated All Saints Day, beginning with Mass, followed by a parade around campus and ending with a heavenly celebration where students played games and received candy. One of the core values for our parish and school is “supporting families”, and this is a great opportunity for our families to celebrate the Catholic tradition of Halloween and what is good, true and beautiful about All Saints and All Souls days. Parents and students worked together by gathering items from around the house to create costumes representing a saint for each student. Our staff also enjoys participating in the fun by making their own costumes. As we marched around the campus our neighbors could hear the little voices of students proudly singing “When the Saints Come Marching In”.
On Monday, November 11th the Church of the Resurrection School invited grandparents, parents, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends who are veterans or active in the military to come to the school and be honored for their service to our country. The students waved miniature American flags as we offered a prayer and blessing to our Veterans. The school also presented our Veterans with a certificate of appreciation for their service along with an American flag pin. We were honored to hear one of our parents share his story of serving our country. May God Bless America!
