The 2nd graders in Mrs. McBride's class spent the day focusing on President's Day and why we celebrate it! They compared and contrasted the lives of George Washington and Abraham Lincoln. The lesson carried over into math, where they have been focusing on money. They learned all about why certain presidents are on specific coins and bills. They ended the day with the story, Grace for President, and held their own class election based on persuasive letters to their classmates as to why they should be class president. Each student was assigned a state to represent the electoral votes where students put their graphing and addition skills to use to tally up the votes.
