Puppets Help to Tell Our Salvation Story

November 30, 2019

Basilica of Saint Mary of the Immaculate Conception

Ms. Darlene Green, in the persona of Mother Mary, presented the biblical story of our salvation from the birth of Jesus, to his journey with the disciples on the road to Emmaus, to our journeys with Jesus today. She used puppets to entertain and inform both adults and children. This is a passion for Ms. Green who readily shares her talent whenever the opportunity is presented.

Through Ms. Green several characters told of their experience of Jesus, how he changed their lives in a profound way. “Jesus wants to be your friend,” she told them, “and He wants you to do the right thing. Be kind to others; tell them that Jesus loves them and that He is always with them.”

The children were mesmerized by the little puppet boy who was learning with them how much Jesus loves them and wants them to be his disciples.

When the children were asked if they knew a song about Jesus and the Bible, several of them immediately raised their hands and then sang:

Jesus loves me, this I know

For the Bible tells me so….

We thank Catholic Negro American Mission Board for helping to improve our catechetical program.
