St. Matthew the Apostle and St. Charles Lwanga Center

St. Matthew the Apostle Parish situated in the historic Ville neighborhood of St. Louis reports continual ecumenical work with neighborhood churches such as a Block Party that celebrated the love of Christ by bringing diverse African American Christian Communities to share in prayer, music, food and fellowship along with distribution of temporal necessities for youngsters such as school supplies loaded into backpacks. Similarly, the festival with Unfailing Love Christian Church down the block serves to bring people together recognizing one Godhead.

Across town the St. Charles Lwanga Center/Archdiocesan Office of Black Catholic Ministries continued to offer its Bible Study. Recent support in attendance for prayer and exploration with the Book of Job exemplifies courage on the journey of faith in these uncertain times that we live in whether we are in urban or rural environments.

The local neighborhood outreach of St. Matthew Parish and the wider reach of the Lwanga Center are compatible with the broad expanse of outreach to the African American community as is intended for the use of the Black and Indian Mission Grant.
