St. Patricks' Day at St. Kateri Mission

It has been another productive quarter at St Kateri Tekakwitha. On Saint Patrick’s Day we had a special Corned Beef Lunch for the congregation as well as some visitors from the community.

We also held a Lent Retreat with Father Pacheco on Saturday March 30th. The young people from Newman Center in Arcata came to visit us and we were blessed to have an evening Mass and Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament.

The congregation is excited by the gift of a new tabernacle for St. Kateri Church. It was mostly funded by the HSU Newman Center and the local Knights of Columbus. The parish also contributed $700 towards the cost.

Presently we are designing a new mount for the tabernacle behind the altar, and below the Crucifix.

The Hoopa Valley Tribe rented the Hall for meeting space and were very generous with a thousand dollar donation. It is expected that they will rent it again in the future as the need arises.

Maintenance on the grounds and building continues. The tenants at the rectory are faithful to mow the grass.

We are planning another Rummage Sale in early July. We have plenty of donations left from the last sale so the preparation is easy.

Again, we are grateful for the support from the funders, all the clergy and the active members of the parish.
