Catholic Schools of Fairbanks

Kindergarten buddies singing a blessing to their seniors at the last mass of the year. This is the ultimate ending to a sweet year of friendships that last a lifetime.

Baccalaureate mass. Bishop Chad Zielinski blesses the Class of 2022 in Holy Family Chapel, located in the heart of our schools.

Senior Retreat. Just as the seniors opened their school year with a retreat, they end the year together with a retreat as well. They take time to reflect on the year, lessons learned both in and out of the classroom, their relationships with classmates, teachers, their families, and with God, and celebrate all their hard work at Monroe.

May Crowning. Each May, we have special Marian readings and Mary songs for this Mass. The 2nd grade class hosts this Mass by doing the readings, prayers, welcome, etc. For the May Crowning (after the homily), a boy carries a pillow with the crown on it and the girl takes the crown and puts it on Mary’s head. All the 2nd graders follow the procession carrying a carnation; they bow to the altar and carefully place their flower in a glass vase next to the statue of Mary. We spend time teaching the students that as the mother of Jesus, Mary plays an important role in the Catholic Church and we honor her for that.
