Tigua Native American Ministry
On the morning of August 9 to begin a new school year the Tigua ministry along with Rev. Miguel Briseño, OFM, Conv. Pastor at the Mission of San Antonio de la Ysleta de Sur visited the Tuy-Pathu PK center at Ysleta del Sur Pueblo. The visit offered us the opportunity to speak with the children and staff. The director and an administrative assistant provided us with a tour of the facilities used for the PK center and for after school programs offered to tribal children and youth.
As we made our way along to each classroom, Rev. Briseño blessed the children and the staff. The ministry provided a tote bag to each child with a story book on the life of St. Kateri Tekakwitha, markers, crayons and a pencil attached with a prayer card reminding them of God’s presence and love for them. The ministry also provided a tote bag to each teacher with supplies for classroom use.
Our presence with them at the beginning of the year begins to lay the foundation for the rest of the school year as the ministry and PK center will collaborate on many activities throughout the school ye
