Sacred Heart School in Gallup New Mexico
Students at Sacred Heart School in Gallup New Mexico in the Diocese of Gallup began the 2022-23 year off with morning mass as they always do. The students, teachers, the Rector Rev. Matthew Keller and the daily parishioners at mass were evidently joy filled to be all together again.
Dr. John Freeh, the principal of the school, encourages a classical approach to the subjects taught and one of the tools of learning is to see nature first hand. So, for an immediately inspiring kick-off start to the natural science classes of the grades, the students went on a field trip to a locally famous spot Window Rock Zoo. It was obviously a great day. Who wouldn’t want to see a wolf or a fox up close? Or any of the animal reptile or insect species of the beautiful Southwest?
Sacred Heart School also has fine arts classes which include music. In one photo, the school choir is welcoming two visiting Sisters, with song, early in the year.
Also, the second and third grades read “Tall Tales” in their literature classes and of course were able to have a Lumberjack Pancake breakfast to reward their reading efforts!
