Black Catholic Implementation Team

The Black Catholic Implementation Team of the Omaha Archdiocese communicates the spirit, vision, and strategy of the Congress to the Catholic Community. The BCIT provides leadership to spearhead the implementation of Congress programs and policies from the National Black Catholic Pastoral Plan and other Congress documents.
The BCIT had a very busy month celebrating Black Catholic History Month.

The Team was invited to speak to the Theology Class at the College of St. Mary's, on the topic "Being Black and Catholic". This was a very engaging time, with personal testimonies from members of St. Benedict the Moor Catholic Church.

The Team awarded 12, $100 tuition scholarships to students at Sacred Heart Elementary School.

The Team awarded 4, $250 tuition scholarships to students at Holy Name Elementary School.

The Team awarded 3 prizes for a poster contest held at Sacred Heart School. The poster contest allowed the students to research and educate what they learned about the history of the black Catholics who have paved the road for us today. 1st place prize was awarded lunch for the entire class, 2nd place prize was awarded a $5 gift certificate and 3rd place prize was a treat for the class.

This was a very exciting time for all involved!
