St. Mary's Cathedral School
For the month of February, students at St. Mary's Cathedral school learned and celebrated Black History Month through various activities. In Reading classes in grades K-8, students read passages, books, and poems by Black Writers. After reading, they did several activities such as discussions, summaries, reflections, and more. In grades 4-8, students were assigned Black Figures; students gave presentations about historical Black figures.
Students in grades 3-8 presented a Black History Showcase for students and parents. The show highlighted Black History, with an emphasis in knowing the past to shape the future. The audience was able to go on a journey through Black History by seeing different scenes such as song, dance, poetry, and fashion.
