Kujenga: Youth Leadership Camp by Daniel C. Robinson

Why do you feel teens should attend Kujenga?

As a rising 10th grader, I feel that Camp Kujenga is an awesome opportunity to build leadership skills and connect with others from different backgrounds, schools, families, and cultures. Attending Kujenga can help you grow personally and develop important like skills such as, teamwork and communication. Plus, the experiences I have gained, and others have gained can really shape our future. Also, it can help inspire participants to make a positive impact in their schools and communities.

Kujenga is a unique program created to empower myself and others to leadership positions in school, youth programs or organizations. I believe teens should attend the camp because the camp experience focuses on problem solving, sharing, and allowing participants to express themselves through art and other team activities. When we participate, we learn new things about being a Black Catholic, the role of the Catholic church, and we build on skills that be used in school and any life situation.

How do you feel about Kujenga?

For the last three years, I have attended Kujenga. Each year, I learn new things and meet new people, Counselors and Priests. These experiences help us recognize the importance of God, the purpose of Church, and our purpose too. The Kujenga experience is inclusive, and all teenagers are invited to attend and enjoy a weekend of working together, laughter, and prayer.

Kujenga prepares young leaders for future challenges and encourages responsible behavior and choices for future leaders. The challenges are designed to help us think and talk through possible solutions that can be shared with others. Also, if you attend Kujenga, the participation and volunteer look great on your resume. If you want a fun weekend designed to enhance and develop future leaders, and help with your spiritual journey, attend Kujenga.
