Black Catholic Mission | 

Sunday, Oct. 22, Bishop Marshall was honored to celebrate Mass at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Church in Mansura on the occasion of their 85th anniversary. Afterward they had a wonderful meal in the Ugandan Martyrs Center.

Indian Mission | 

Bishop Robert Marshall celebrated the annual Mass for indigenous peoples at Our Lady of Guadalupe (Nuestra Senora de Guadalupe) Mission in Forest Hill. The Mass traditionally invokes the intercession of St. Kateri Tekakwitha.

Dr. F. DeKarlos Blackmon OblSB led a delegation of Black Catholics from the Diocese of Austin to the historic quinquennial gathering of the Black apostolate.

On November 27, 2023, our students at Saint James Catholic School participated and completed the preliminary rounds of our School Wide Spelling Bee. They earned the spot of representing their grade level at our school-wide spelling bee.

St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Koyukuk is finally getting an upgrade! For the past few decades, the parish building consisted of a renovated fuel-oil shed whose walls were so soaked with oil they wouldn’t hold paint. The old building also could only hold about 15 people. The new structure, which is expected to be complete by summer 2024, will enable at least 30 people to attend Mass regularly.

Currently, the Diocese of Fairbanks has just 10 priests to serve its 38 rural churches across western Alaska, with one additional part-time priest from Michigan.

Black Catholic Mission | 

The Gesu Robotics team has been working hard this year and their work has paid off! Gesu’s robotics team is called G-Force, referring to the scientific term for Gravitational force equivalent. Gesu is Italian for Jesus and Jesus is the “force” that guides us.

STEM is for everyone! St Peter Claver Catholic School has been partnering with Starbase 2.0 at Warner Robins Air Base Science Museum.

A very special tradition at St. Ann’s Catholic School on Turtle Mountain Reservation is the celebration of Veteran’s Day.

The Religious Formation Program at Holy Name of Jesus joined with the African American Cultural Ministry at HNOJ.
