Sisters Academy of Baltimore
In keeping with tradition, Sisters Academy 8th grade students traveled to the Bon Secours Retreat & Conference Center in Marriottsville, Maryland to enjoy a day devoted to sisterhood, goal setting, prayer, reflection, and fun. A presentation on the importance of self-care and mental health was given to the students, which led to a reflection activity that included worksheets containing positive and inspiring phrases. Students were encouraged to choose a quote that stood out to them, color it, and then place it in a spot at home where they could return to reflect on it when challenged. After the reflection, students relaxed their minds and bodies by participating in a mindfulness yoga session led by a trained instructor. The peacefulness of the session reminded students that with just a little deep breathing, reflection, and stretching, you can calm a busy mind and soul.
Once the yoga session concluded, students were free to explore the beautiful campus at Bon Secours. Students walked around the campus and spent some time chatting with friends. As the students approached a familiar location, the Bon Secours Bridge, students remarked on their time together as a class and how the last 3 years has brought them closer. With the click of a button, a moment was frozen in time that captured hope, sisterhood, peace, and positivity. As the months move forward, caps, gowns, and tassels will be ordered and the hustle and bustle of graduation will emerge. A class that was once whole will break apart and a room once filled with 15 students will now be empty. However, the sisterhood formed within the walls of Sisters Academy and the Bon Secours Retreat Center by the 8th grade class will never be forgotten.
