Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish
Fun at the Annual Fall Bazaar!
There was much community fun enjoyed on October 5 and 6 at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish (IHM) Annual Fall Bazaar. This year, IHM celebrated the 71st anniversary of the Fall Bazaar; that was many months in the planning.
According to organizers this Bazaar attracted a record breaking turnout of families to take part in the parish’s largest fund-raiser to help pay sky-rocketing insurance costs. Father Rommel Tolentino, pastor of IHM, stated that the goal had been achieved.
The Bazaar featured many delectable food options, such as: sweet potato pies, hot links, hamburgers and fries. The Knights of Peter Claver, local #141 and members of the Holy Name Society of IHM rose at 3:00am to get the smokers ready to prepare barbequed pork steak and chicken dinners. The dinners sold out early both days! Funnel cakes and soft-serve ice cream were a big hit with the participants. There was a religious goods table and lots of fun activities for the children, including an inflatable bounce house. One of the local politicians volunteered for the dunking booth. He was soaked through! A Zydeco band had toes tapping and hands clapping on Sunday afternoon. The upbeat Creole music featuring accordion and washboard percussion brought smiles to all who sought seating in the shade to listen to the musicians.
