Archbishop Carroll Senior High School
Archbishop Carroll High School is an Archdiocese of Washington Catholic high school located in the Brookland neighborhood of Washington, DC. Having a long history of being a pillar in the community, the school offers a robust, faith-based education and strives to instill excellence in the young people that attend there. Children of all backgrounds are welcomed to the school, which provides a rigorous and supportive learning environment.
The COVID-19 pandemic has had an unprecedented impact on our region. With the closure of schools, churches, businesses, and our economy, a significant number of people are unemployed or underemployed. Amidst this crisis, our Archbishop Carroll students have shown perseverance as their school shifted to distant learning.
As students strived to succeed, we look to students who have shown leadership and excellence. Abayomi Potter, a graduating student, is one of those students who have shown exemplary discipline in her learning at Carroll. During her years at Archbishop Carroll, Abayomi served as Vice President of the student council, was a member of the Women of Carroll and STEM Nation.
Head Cheerleading coach, Kodi Johnson, says, "You can find Abby proudly wearing green and gold cheering on her classmates. She is a kind-hearted, third-year veteran cheerleader who displays a passion for the sport and compassion for those around her. She is always eager to learn new skills and perfect her technique while being a role model teammate and taking underclassmen under her wing. Abby is a natural leader and not only shines front and center on the sideline but also in the classroom. She always has a smile on her face, and you can count on her to get the job done. She has a bright future ahead of her, and I am so proud of her accomplishments."
Abayomi Potter plans to study Biomedical Engineering in college and earn her doctorate to become a Bio Mechanic Pharmacist. Congratulations!
