Youngstown St. Joseph the Provider Catholic School

The students of Youngstown St. Joseph the Provider Catholic School welcomed Catholic School's Week on January 28th. The week's schedule of events began on Monday morning with a dance taught by gym teacher Charlotte Gorby demonstrating the importance of healthy minds, bodies and souls. The students then jumped rope and shot baskets for Hoops for Hearts and all monies raised was then donated to the American Heart Association. A pep rally, student basketball games and a faculty-student basketball game rounded out the day.

On Tuesday morning our annual Spelling Bee was held and a 7th grader took top honors with a 6th grader placing second! St. Joseph the Provider recognized the hard work and importance of the community by inviting members of the police and fire deptartments, judges, county commissioners and Youngstown's Mayor to a catered lunch with the students in grades K-8. The lunch served to strengthen relationships between the students and those who protect and serve. At the end of the day, students presented their bus drivers with baskets full of treats to express their appreciation for their hard work, dedication and most especially for safely transporting them to and from our school!

The week was interrupted by 2 'snow days' back to back for below zero temps, therefore postponing both Teacher Appreciation Day and Special Person's Day. The week came to a close with Student Appreciation Day as Our Student Body is the reason for our Catholic Schools.
