Buddy Reading

St. Mary's Cathedral School

This year during Catholic Schools week, our St. Mary’s Cathedral School student body was Blessed to have many community leaders, business persons, and religious come to our school to provide our students with words of wisdom, encouragement for spiritual and academic success, and a glimpse into a life of vocations and the different career opportunities. Vocation speakers kicked off the week by providing our students with talks centered around themes like the Sacrament of Marriage, Hearing God’s Call, Life and Service of Edmund Rice, and The Gift of God’s Love. The students participated in activities, like “Pack the Pantry Food Drive” and “Kindness Matter Activities”, helping to tie in our Catholic Virtues. Other important activities took place throughout the week that emphasized Literacy. Our middle school students organized an outdoor read aloud or buddy reading for the primary grades. Students in all grades put their creative writing skills to work on creating letters, cards, pictures, and posters of appreciation for the community service workers and organizations that partner with our school. We concluded the week with a Street Festival on our school field celebrating our students! We are thankful for everyone who helps to make St. Mary’s Cathedral School a beacon of light and a harbor of hope.
