Flat Teacher Project

I miss my students greatly, and I know how disappointed they were that we would not finish the school year in our typically classroom setting. In order to brighten my students’ day during this difficult Coivd-19 time, I found a wonderful project online that another teacher had created. It is based on the popular children’s book Flat Stanley. The original project that many teachers do with their students is to have the children send a Flat Stanley picture to a friend or relative and document Stanley’s adventures. In lieu of mailing a Flat Stanley picture to my students, I sent a Flat Stanley version on myself. I created a paper doll of myself and mailed it along with some suggested activities my students and “I” could do together. The children documented their adventures with “me” by posting pictures in their Class Dojo Portfolio.

The children really seem to be enjoying having “me” with them. We are having so much fun, and I really enjoy seeing the pictures of “my” adventures. I know they miss our regular teacher-student interactions, but this little project brought a smile to their faces and allowed “me” to be with them during this difficult time.
