All About the Drama at SMCS!

St. Mary Cathedral School

As the 2018-2019 school year began, the hallways at St. Mary Cathedral School were buzzing with excitement! The students knew that during the first week of school Miss Richardy Blanchard, our Drama Program Director, shares her visions for the upcoming school drama productions. This year, the line-up included a Hispanic Heritage Celebration, All Saints Play – Saint Kateri Tekakwitha, Reach for the Stars Nativity Pageant, Black History Recital, and the passion play “Jesus of Nazareth”. Ms. Blanchard is a graduate of FIU with a degree in Musical Arts, and a minor in Art Education.

Together with Miss Blanchard, the students at St. Mary Cathedral School work to put together full scale productions that teach our students about the profound love of Christ and stir their hearts with renditions from the Bible. With Ms. Blanchard’s guidance and expertise, the students of St. Mary’s Cathedral School are immersed in the Arts, giving them an opportunity for creativity and self-expression.

The lessons developed by Ms. Blanchard included various facets of the Arts, including set design, wardrobe, lighting, sound, special effects, script writing and acting.

St. Mary’s is blessed to be able to provide a strong arts education program headed by a true thespian, and are thankful for the support from the Catholic Negro American Mission Board School and Religious Education Program Application (CNAMB).
