Eboni Goring '21 earned an athletic (tennis) scholarship to attend and compete for Virginia State University (DII, Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association) while pursuing a degree in Exercise Physiology. This summer, Goring competed in the District of Columbia State Athletic Association (DCSAA) tennis championships. She dominated her opening round opponent before falling to Molly Evans of Sidwell Friends High School.
Eboni grew up practicing and playing tennis and strengthening her academics at the Washington Tennis & Education Foundation's East Capitol campus in Southeast DC. The Center includes nine outdoor tennis courts, six indoor courts, academic space for math and reading instruction, tutoring, homework assistance, and test preparation services. Despite her busy tennis routine, Eboni was a member of Carroll's National Honor Society and competed in Track and Field.
For more than thirteen years, the Black and Indian Mission Office has provided tuition assistance to many African American students, like Eboni. Such support is needed to give all an opportunity to learn in a wholesome, faith-based rigorous environment – building a foundation for our future leaders to soar.
