Sacred Heart Catholic Parish/School
Sacred Heart Catholic School celebrated National Catholic Schools Week January 31- February 4, 2022. The theme this year was “Catholic Schools: Faith. Excellence. Service.” Sacred Heart Catholic School was excited to honor Catholic education in Shawano, and the special role they have played in the community for nearly 150 years as the only Catholic school in Shawano County and whose enrollment is the highest it has been in 20 school years!
This week was observed with special masses, open houses and other activities for students, families, parishioners and community members. Through these events, the school focused on the value Catholic education provides to young people and its contributions to our church, our communities and our nation. We got to show our Cardinal Pride!
We KICKED OFF our celebration week by inviting all families to our Sacred Heart Cardinals ‘Annual Pink Out’ basketball tournament event on January 29. This event was a terrific way to show our Catholic Pride through service, fellowship and athletics, and raised over $7,000 for Peace & Love for Alex, Inc, a local non-profit whose sole purpose is to raise funds for local families battling cancer.
Our entire Catholic Schools Week was filled with faith and fun. We had wonderful daily activities, spirit dress up days organized by our Student Council such as pajama day, celebrating the decades, and school spirit day! Students in K-8 enjoyed an all-day field trip to Navarino Nature Center for snowshoeing, sledding and outdoor adventures. We welcomed nationally known Christian recording artist, Jennie Williamson for an amazing musical concert, and each student loved the opportunity to sing and dance with her. It was great fun to see what students brought to school on Friday for the 'Anything but a backpack' day as well. It was a week of academic acknowledgements, too, as we announced our 2nd quarter Honor Roll students. Each student was also gifted with terrific surprises all week long such as neon pencils, smelly erasers, faith based key chains and faith sucker pops.
This was our opportunity to celebrate our faith, share our school spirit, and welcome newcomers as we honored Catholic Schools Week 2021-2022!
