Our Mission

The Black and Indian Mission Office is comprised of three distinct but inter-related organizations, each with its own purpose and history, but all seeking to fulfill the one Mission to the Missions! Founded by the Catholic bishops of the United States, each organization cooperates with local diocesan communities to spread the Good News of Jesus Christ and respond to real and pressing needs on the ground. The Black and Indian Mission Collection exists to help local African American and Native American Diocesan Communities throughout the United States spread the Good News of Jesus Christ and respond to real and pressing needs on the ground.

News and Events

Black Catholic Mission | 

The Diocese of Beaumont used the Black and Indian Mission Office’s generous grant funds to minister to the African American community within the diocese—particularly focusing on the youth and young adults in this area.

Indian Mission | 

The Summer Months of 2023 were spent preparing for Summer Family Bible Camp, attending training, and attending a Kateri retreat.

Black Catholic Mission | 

At Saint James Catholic School we launched the new school year with a back-to-school mass. We gather to praise and worship God.

Black Catholic Mission | 

This summer around 35 delegates representing Archdiocese of Atlanta participated in July’s Black Catholic Congress.

Indian Mission | 

We traveled with some of our SFM Youth group members to the 84th Annual Tekakwitha Conference July 19-23, 2023 which was held in Bloomington, MN.

Indian Mission | 

We finished the month of June with BMS- Body, Mind & Soul camps in Parmelee, Spring Creek and Mission.
