The Diocese of Buffalo African American Commission follow-up meeting on National Black Catholic Congress XIII was held on May 10, 2024 at St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church, Buffalo, NY. Congress XIII participants shared their awesome experience and ideas on how to implement action steps for the Diocese of Buffalo. The theme was “Build Back Better”. Ideas and action steps were discussed.
The discussion groups shared on the theme of “Let’s Build Back” spells out ways to:
- Evangelization strategies and ways to be prophetic.
- Identify ways to rebuild and make strong a vision to address youth and adult engagement.
- Celebrate what it means to be Black and Catholic while addressing the challenges.
- With the challenges together we will walk with renewal, faith, and hope.
The following questions were also discussed:
- What inspired you during Congress XIII?
- Looking at our Diocese and your faith community, what troubles you?
- What resources people within the Diocese and community can we network with to create an action plan?
We concluded that we really care about our Diocese and community. We will move forward to “Build Back” with a renewed energy. We want to leave a legacy of faith and write a prophetic vision to thrive.
