The Most Rewarding Work

June 04, 2019

St. Mary Cathedral School

Pope Francis said, “The World needs the courage, hope, faith and perseverance of Christ’s followers.” Ask our faculty and they will tell you that part of the most rewarding work that is done here at St. Mary’s Cathedral School is the Faith Formation of our students. Each faculty member contributes to teaching our students to live their faith daily, in many cases, taking on the role of primary faith educators. This is achieved by leading prayers in every class, teaching students about our rich Catholic history, providing opportunity for reflection and discussions of faith in the classrooms, participating in worship and prayer service opportunities, and celebrating mass together on a weekly basis.

The faculty of St. Mary’s has worked diligently to ensure that our students are prepared to receive the sacraments of Reconciliation, Eucharist and Confirmation during this Easter season. In some cases, our students receive the sacrament of Baptism as well.

This year, we are proud to say that 71 members of our St. Mary’s parish community (many of them our students) will be receiving Jesus, the Living Bread! There will also be 21 students participating in the Sacrament of Confirmation, and 13 who will be baptized. The faculty and staff at St. Mary’s rejoice in our role as disciples and helping our students strengthen their Catholic identity, bringing them closer each day to God and His Church.
