Students Explore the Trades as a Possible Vocation

August 03, 2024

Marian High School

Marian High School was blessed to be able to offer scholarships to several African American students and their families because of the generosity of the Black and Indian Mission Grant. The scholarships awarded help families pay tuition at school, which in turn is directed toward the salaries of the teaching faculty of the school.

At the end of the academic year, several students who were recipients of scholarships provided by the Black and Indian Mission Grant attended a field trip. The day was spent learning about local organizations involved in the trades and manufacturing. Students had an opportunity to listen to several skilled tradesmen including welders, electricians, plumbers, and city workers. Students learned the potential benefits of entering a career in the trades and had an opportunity to ask questions and to participate in some hands-on activities.

As the cost of a college education continues to increase, students and families are exploring all options for a potential career. More and more students are becoming interested in the trades and Marian High School is dedicated to heling each student find his or her God given vocation. The generous financial support of the Black and Indian Mission Grant has continued to make the exploration of careers possible for students!
