The Body, Mind and Soul Summer Camp is sponsored by the Religious Education Program at St. Francis Mission each summer and incorporates Lakota teachings and crafts.
The Diocese of Rapid City is piloting a Mental Wellness Ministry in several parishes during this grant period, including some located on the Pine Ridge and Standing Rock reservations.
Documents seeking to make Nicholas Black Elk a saint were signed, sealed and delivered to the Vatican recently. Black Elk was a Lakota medicine man and Catholic catechist.
With gracious funding from Black and Indian Mission, Saint Kateri has been able to support its growing ministries, especially its youth ministry. Consequently, our number of volunteers has increased as well.
Red Cloud began Maȟpíya Lúta Lakȟól Waúŋspewičhakhiyapi – Teaching Lakota to Red Cloud Students more than a decade ago, and continues this program each year.
St. Joseph Apache Mission is located in the heart of the Mescalero Apache Indian Reservation’s business district in South-central New Mexico. More than twenty years went into the building of St. Joseph Apache Mission.
