De La Salle Blackfeet School

August 2023 UPDATE

De La Salle Blackfeet School began our preparations for the 2023-24 school year the day following our commencement exercises at the conclusion of the 2022-23 school year. During the summer months we made improvements to each classroom with a big shift in the layout of our school. As part of an initiative to address learning loss due to COVID-19 pandemic and learning gaps within our student population, DLSBS has combined our 4th & 5th grade classes into the Little Flower Academy.

We welcomed all of our staff back to our community with our orientation; topics included raising awareness of historical and personal trauma to create trauma-informed classrooms. With the departure of two teachers at the conclusion of this past school year, the community welcomed new staff members to join our school. Staff and students alike shared their enthusiasm for returning to school. We had our new students attend a day-long orientation to acclimate themselves to the De La Salle Blackfeet culture. All students returned for the first day of classes on August 22nd. The staff has collaborated together to ensure that the school year is successful and our students thriving. Community circle groups meet as each grade level works together to communicate their needs and fashion a community of purpose. Our extended morning assembly programming is prepared for presentation to the student body each day. Staff and students alike present on different topics during these assemblies which offer an opportunity to establish community practices.

We have already begun our weekly in-person student run masses; all community members are invited to join and for those unable to attend in person, we live stream on our De La Salle Facebook page. Athletics has been a highlight for our students and coaching staff with cross-country and girls basketball having successful seasons full of growth and achievement. We are all looking forward to continued success as the school year unfolds and extend our blessings to all for a prosperous year.
