Catholic Schools Week 2024

April 06, 2024

St. Augustine Indian Mission

Catholic Schools Week 2024 at St. Augustine Indian Mission was a blast! In addition to the typical dress up days (Hawaiian shirts, favorite teams and crazy hair day, oh my!), students worked together to decorate their classroom doors using a scripture theme chosen by each class and their teachers. Students also worked hard to write special letters to send along with prayer cards to the donors who support the school.

The entire St. Augustine Indian Mission community came together to make blessing boxes for soldiers who are deployed or stationed elsewhere and who have ties to the community.

Students of mixed age groups also gathered to play games, including a relaunch of the Chess Club, with plenty of healthy competition and sportsmanship on display. The school spirit was contagious!

After all the festivities, students ended the week dressed in pajamas and slippers, ready for the first Read and Feed in their new school building, where they enjoyed reading to each other (and eating snacks).

All of these activities, planned and executed by the dedicated school staff, highlight the joy that comes from a Catholic education. The children enrolled at St. Augustine Indian Mission benefit greatly from the religious teachings, prayers and encouragement provided by community support - near and far. Celebrating Catholic Schools Week is a beloved tradition each year.

Fr. Mark Beran celebrated Mass during Catholic Schools Week, to honor the experience at St. Augustine Indian Mission, which brings together Native American students to learn more about their rich cultural history and develop a personal relationship with Christ.
